Sixth grade students have been doing weather forecasts for many years. It started with students using overhead markers on transparent paper and presenting the forecast on an overhead projector. Later on students created the weather maps using powerpoint and did the weather forecast in front of a computer projection screen. This year we have experimented with some new technology called a "blue screen". For more information on this, click here. A few students volunteered to test out this new technology. New to us here at AMS. The following weather forecasts were all done in one take without any practice. The student stood in front of a "blue screen" (blue paper on the wall) and pretended to point to the maps. They looked at a computer that showed the slides that would be substituted for the blue screen. You can see that the color of the shirt is critical. This was just an attempt to see how this technology works. Look for another project in the spring using "blue screen" technology.
